An Upgrade for Traditional Lock & Keys

Need to replace the locks on a government building? Seeking full control over who has the ability to replicate your keys? Whilst traditional lock and key systems are fine for your home, there are many instances where security needs to be a lot tighter—think for industrial premises or schools.

When you’re managing one of these buildings, it’s worth considering a restricted key system. At A.R.K Lock Repairs, we can rekey or replace your locks and upgrade to a restricted key system. We undertake restricted keying for the following buildings throughout Burdekin Region—including the towns of Home Hill and Ayr:

  • Hotels & motels
  • Office complexes
  • Police stations
  • Government buildings
  • Schools, hospitals
  • Commercial & industrial buildings

And others.

Complete Control Over Your Keys

A restricted key system is more secure than traditional locks for several reasons. Firstly, a new restricted key can only be cut by the same locksmith that set-up your system—each locksmith has their own registered design pattern for the keys and barrels that cannot be legally used by anyone else.

Secondly, you choose who can have a replica key cut. Whenever anyone orders a new key, it needs to be accompanied by a signed request from a designated signatory. Finally, each key will be stamped with a system number, rank and sequential generation. This is used to identify individual keys and the system to which they belong.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is restricted keying?

Restricted keying allows you, the purchaser of the system, to have control over who can get extra keys cut, how many, and to prevent other locksmiths from duplicating your keys. It is also a secure way of ensuring that no one else has a key that will accidently work in your lock if you are using a master keying system (common on schools and commercial buildings).

  • Can anyone purchase a restricted system?

Yes, all you need is to specify the level of security you want on your system, set up your signatories and design how you want your system to work. Once the system is designed you can get extra keys or locks at any time and because we manufacture our system right here in the Burdekin, there is no need to wait for it to arrive from a third party.

  • Are restricted keying systems expensive?

Not at all. They were once considered a costly investment, but because we provide the system on site, we are able to implement cylinders for as little as $15 extra per lock.
